LANDLESS PLAY COMPETITION!
"SO BAD, IT'S GOOD!"
PLAY TITLE: So Bad It's Good
PLAYWRIGHT: Lenny Levy
SIMON SHAKESPEARE SAYS: "One would think
it was written specifically for this contest -
might save some money on advertising."

RANDY SHAKESPEARE SAYS: "I'm not feelin' it,
dawg."

PAULA SHAKESPEARE SAYS: "This one is bad,
and that's very good... (alcoholic
drug-induced babble, etc.)"

"Is the boss crazy? Topper Tops is on the verge
of financial disaster when the boss assigns Bob
and Stan to figure out how to save the company.
But when he tells them to prepare a "really, really
bad report," Bob and Stan have to figure out
what he wants. Does he really want them to
prepare a bad report? How can that save the
company? Or has the boss simply adopted some
urban vernacular and is telling them that he
wants to see something really, really good? A
plan so bad that it's good! It doesn't help that
when Bob tells him about their dilemma, he tells
them to figure it out what he wants. Help! See
what happens when Bob and Stan try to figure
out how to prepare a report that will save the
company without knowing if it should be a bad
report or a good report.."

(BOB IS SITTING IN HIS CUBICLE.  HE IS WORKING AT A MODULAR TABLE AND SITTING IN
A DESK CHAIR.  THERE IS A SECOND CHAIR IN THE ROOM.  ARNOLD IS ON THE PHONE.)

BOB
Hello?  Is this Big Brothers?  I’m hoping you can explain something.  No, I’m not
interested in taking a boy to the zoo this weekend.  I’m sorry his Big Brother got sick but I’
m spending this weekend completing a work project.  But I need to ask my question!  If an
African-American man says he wants something to be bad, does he mean he wants it to
be bad, or he wants it to be good?

(BOB HANGS UP THE PHONE.  STAN WALKS IN AND SITS IN THE OTHER CHAIR.)

STAN
What did they say?

BOB
They didn’t know either.  I’m lost!  What do we do?
